About the custom test
The custom test measures your speed and accuracy on text you choose, such as a speech, report, vocabulary list or code block. It uses the same live typing workspace and scoring as the built-in tests.
What the custom test measures
The custom test turns your own passage into a typing exercise. The timer starts on your first keystroke, and the result reports WPM and accuracy for the text you supplied. Because you choose the material, it works well for rehearsing something you already need to reproduce.
Reading a custom result
Your WPM and accuracy are affected by the length, vocabulary and punctuation of your text. Results from a short note and a dense report are not directly comparable. Treat the score as a measure of this passage, not as a universal typing rating.
Comparing repeated passes
Repeat the same saved text with the same settings when you want a fair comparison. Watch whether accuracy becomes steadier and corrections become less frequent as the passage becomes familiar. Saved custom text stays in this browser rather than in an online account.
